We are pleased to invite you to the Q2 2009 Membership Meeting of the Iowa Contingency Planners for 2009.  As a reminder, the theme for 2009 is “Back to Basics” which will focus our quarterly meetings on key business continuity practices that all organizations need to establish in order to be successful with recovery of operations.        


Our next meeting will be held at Involta in Eastern Iowa on May 13th, 2009.  Here are the details:

National Weather Service

Ø  Jeff Johnson will provide their quarterly weather briefing


Mid-American Energy

Ø  Tom Padley, natural gas manager for Mid-American Energy, managed the service disconnections as flood waters rose while watching his two-year old facility disappear under flood waters.  He managed the largest post-disaster natural gas reconstruction in MidAmerican history while rebuilding their facility – both of which happened in a little over two months.


Linn County Emergency Management Agency

Ø  Tom Ulrich is the Operations Officer of the Linn County Emergency Management Agency.  He is a lifetime public servant, having served (or continuing to serve) as a law enforcement officer, volunteer fire fighter, volunteer EMT and Chief of  the Linn County Haz-Mat team.  He has a degree in law enforcement and is a Certified Emergency Management Coordinator.  Tom will be discussing the BCP Best Practices that “didn’t hold water” during the floods of 2008.

Ø  Chris Foster is a Lead EOC/BCP Analyst with AEGONUSA, a global insurance and investments company, and has been with the company for almost 3 ½ years.  Chris has been involved with the implementation and management of AEGON's Cedar Rapids Emergency Operations Center, since its inception just over 3 years ago, and was recently assigned the responsibility of AEGONUSA’s Louisville Emergency Operations Center.  As part of his responsibilities, Chris was the EOC Manager for AEGON's CR EOC throughout the Cedar Rapids Flood of 2008.  Chris will be presenting on how to develop an Incident Management Team in the Private Sector.
